Kramer’s Korner

Greetings all my faithful fans.  Kramer here.  It has been another two weeks, and I don’t know where they went.  I’ve just been kicking around, doing all my normal stuff.  We did go to the pub a couple of times and one day Bob went to the bank and they invited me in and gave me a treat.  That was kind of nice because I got a lot of attention, well deserved I might add.

I told you last time that Scooter went to the vets and we were waiting for the results of his tests.  Well, Bob sat down with Sophie and I and told us that the vet couldn’t fix Scooter.  He has something called cancer and that is apparently a bad thing.  Bob said that he does not appear to be in pain and he acts like he normally does, so we should just let him enjoy himself while he can.  I will do that and I know Sophie will too.

Last week, Bob found out more about my puppy life, before I was surrendered to the Humane Society. I lived in a house with Echo, a Pomeranian, and some cats. Echo and I bonded early on and it was recommended we be adopted together which we all know didn’t happen.  Well, it seems Echo is having some separation anxiety and it is creating a problem for his new Mom.  Bob said if she wanted to contact us, he would see what he could do about setting up some play dates if it would help.  I hope she does.  I would love to see Echo again.  Keeping my paws crossed.

Well, it’s finally going to happen.  I have studiously avoided the subject, but it raised it’s ugly head anyway.  The other day Bob said “guess what Kramer?  We’re going to Obedience School”.  Crap.  I had hoped he had forgotten that.  He has been trying to do some training by himself.  We are working on ‘Come’.  Or, more correctly, Bob is.  I have a tendency to run into the weeds and roll around in the dry leaves, often wrapping my leash around saplings in the process, totally ignoring any pleas from Bob.  So he has employed a new gambit.  Treats.  He will say “Kramer” to get my attention, then “Come” while holding a treat.  What am I supposed to do?  Wait for him to bring it to me? Not happening.  So I started responding.  However, there has not always been a pot of treats at the end of the rainbow.  Sometimes he has one.  Sometimes he doesn’t. And he hides them in his hand so I can’t tell which it is. Diabolical I’d say.  But two can play at this game.  Sometimes I will just sit down on our walks and force a Kramer, Come. It’s usually good for one or two treats I wouldn’t have gotten otherwise.  We don’t start class until Sept 10.  I’ll let you know how well he does.

Well, that’s about it.  Til next time, keep a smile on your face and a treat in your pocket. And to my still homeless friends, hang in there.  It will happen for you too.

Signing off now.

I am a retired manager living in Southern Maine and a would be writer of poetry, narratives, short stories, and random opinions, and that's how Oldmainer was born. Recently, I decided to try an experiment. I added photography to the mix, using only a cheap cell phone with a limited camera and the editing software that came with it, and added the blog site Inklings at to showcase the results. So, feel free to use whatever you find interesting or worthy, but please honor the terms of my copyright when and if you do. They may not be much, but they are still a piece of me. I appreciate your checking me out and hope that you find something that will encourage a return visit. Thanks for stopping by.

Aw I am so sorry to hear about Scooter. I’m sure you will all keep him as comfortable as possible.
It would be lovely for you to see your old friend Echo again 😀
You could have a lot of fun at dog class – new friends to play with too. 🙂
Keep on trying to train Bob – I’m sure he’ll learn soon. 😀
