Kramer’s Korner

Hello again to all my faithful fans

The past two weeks have not been as eventful as some.  It’s mostly because of the heat. It has been so hot that yesterday I saw the neighbors dog chasing a cat and they were both walking.  Just kidding. Bob only takes me with him if he doesn’t have to leave me in the car.  We have had several days in the 90’s, so you can imagine how hot the car would get even with the windows cracked, and, for some reason, Bob does not want to leave me in the car while it is running. Chuckle.

I did however get to go back to the Royal River Park a week ago.  I love that place. So nice and shady.  So much to see and, a lot of other dogs bring their people.  Bob bought me a stake out so that he doesn’t have to hold me on my leash.  Instead, he pounds this thing into the ground and fastens my leash to it.  I can go in a six foot full circle.  Bob did get a little frustrated that of all the places I could go, I chose to lay in the dirt, sipping on a container of water. I wish he had brought some snacks.

We have all been worried about Scooter.  He wasn’t doing too well a week ago and stopped eating. We took him to the Vet for a series of ex rays and blood tests.  Fortunately, most everything looked normal except for his liver.  So Bob took him to a specialist for an ultra sound. and the liver thing may be age related.  I am happy to say his appetite has returned, but he is now on a special diet and will require some dental surgery.

Not to be outdone, I managed to get myself diagnosed with allergies.  I was doing a lot of scratching so Bob had me checked out.  Now, I too have my own medication.  In just a matter of weeks, the three of us have managed to all have different pills and frequencies, and we are all now eating different dog foods.  Bob says he feels like he is running a cafeteria for dogs.  He also said a couple more trips to the Vet and we will all be living in a tent, whatever that means.

Today, Scooter and I are off to the groomers.  Sophie’s fur doesn’t grow as fast as ours does, so she gets to stay home.  This will be my third trip.  Haven’t decided how I will act yet, but we will probably have a little issue with my nails. I’ll let you know next time.

I guess that’s about all for now.  Publishing a blog is very tiring so I think while Bob finishes this up, I’ll take a little nap.
20200720_141648Til next time, this is Kramer saying keep a smile on your face and a treat in your pocket, and to my homeless friends, keep the faith.

About oldmainer

I am a retired manager living in Southern Maine and a would be writer of poetry, narratives, short stories, and random opinions, and that's how Oldmainer was born. Recently, I decided to try an experiment. I added photography to the mix, using only a cheap cell phone with a limited camera and the editing software that came with it, and added the blog site Inklings at to showcase the results. So, feel free to use whatever you find interesting or worthy, but please honor the terms of my copyright when and if you do. They may not be much, but they are still a piece of me. I appreciate your checking me out and hope that you find something that will encourage a return visit. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. And you will be paying for the vet’s summer home. Know the feeling. Worth every penny.

Love this – from the first photo where you have definitely Killed that toy Kramer, to the last, where you managed to curl up on a Table!
I sympathise with Bob and the 3 different types of dog food. That’s exactly what I ended up with too, when I had 3 dogs!
Good luck at the groomers – you’ll need it after lying in the dirt! 😀
