Rainy Afternoon

Wet fingers tapping on my window
Restless clouds tumble across the sky
The wind freshens
A new scent fills the air

Melancholy pervades my being
I retreat into solitary hours
Spent in reflection
Lost in myself

Isolation hangs heavy
Restraints placed upon my movement
Darken my mood
Wash away my ambition

A rainy afternoon
Devoid of cheer
I sit in silence but for
Wet fingers tapping on my window

About oldmainer

I am retired and live in southern Maine with my wife and two dogs. I started Oldmainer .wordpress.com as an outlet for my occasional opinions and random observations, with some poetry thrown in. I welcome anyone that wants to kick back and join me here on the porch, exploring all the gifts we have been given and the memories collected. Thanks for stopping by.
