The Debate

If I dare not raise the pen
Appease my fear to fail
Silencing my thoughts again
My need to speak curtail

If I ignore the urge to write
Lay silent on the page
Stifling the words that might
This need within assuage

If I do not sate the urge
Spur on this drive within
Where  my thoughts and words converge
I create but my own chagrin

About oldmainer

I am retired and live in southern Maine with my wife and two dogs. I started Oldmainer as an outlet for my occasional opinions and random observations, with some poetry thrown in. I welcome anyone that wants to kick back and join me here on the porch, exploring all the gifts we have been given and the memories collected. Thanks for stopping by.
