If All I Did

Ink lings

If all I did

If all I did was shed a tear
When you felt your heart would break
And tried to shield you from the hurt
Protect you from the ache

If all I did was make you feel
That you were someone who
Was worthy of my gift of love
And lit a flame anew

If all I did was hold your hand
When things were going wrong
And told you that you need not fear
Soon life would change it’s song

If all I did was make you laugh
By something that I said
Brushed away a cloudy day
Lit up your sky instead

If all I did was help you see
The beauty that is you
Reflections of your inner self
Your radiance imbue

If all I did was love you
Would you my efforts spurn
Or might I dare to give my heart
For your heart in return

About oldmainer

I am a retired manager living in Southern Maine and a would be writer of poetry, narratives, short stories, and random opinions, and that's how Oldmainer was born. Recently, I decided to try an experiment. I added photography to the mix, using only a cheap cell phone with a limited camera and the editing software that came with it, and added the blog site Inklings at poormanspoet.wordpress.com to showcase the results. So, feel free to use whatever you find interesting or worthy, but please honor the terms of my copyright when and if you do. They may not be much, but they are still a piece of me. I appreciate your checking me out and hope that you find something that will encourage a return visit. Thanks for stopping by.
