Dance Like No One Is Looking

Every once in a while, someone will send me something that just makes my day.  This morning I got an email from a friend that contained a video from YouTube.  It said a lot without saying a word.

Every morning, I read the paper with my coffee and every morning I am bombarded with all the things that went wrong yesterday.  The paper is divided into sections.  The National crisis section and the Local crisis section.  Then there is the Sports crisis section.   By the time I finish, the sun shining through the kitchen window doesn’t somehow seem as bright.

But this morning was different.  Having completed perusing the paper, I logged onto my email and there it was.  Nothing professionally produced or even well choreographed.  Maybe that’s what made it special.  It is simply a video of people dancing.  Everywhere.  All over the world.  They were all happy.  They were all having fun.  It didn’t make any difference who they were or where they were.  They had nothing in common except the willingness to dance.  It was wonderful.  I know that I will play it again, probably more then once, because it gladdened my heart.

So my gift to you today is to pass on this video and dare you not to come away feeling a little better about your world and encourage you to dance like no one is looking.

About oldmainer

I am a retired manager living in Southern Maine and a would be writer of poetry, narratives, short stories, and random opinions, and that's how Oldmainer was born. Recently, I decided to try an experiment. I added photography to the mix, using only a cheap cell phone with a limited camera and the editing software that came with it, and added the blog site Inklings at poormanspoet.wordpress.com to showcase the results. So, feel free to use whatever you find interesting or worthy, but please honor the terms of my copyright when and if you do. They may not be much, but they are still a piece of me. I appreciate your checking me out and hope that you find something that will encourage a return visit. Thanks for stopping by.

  1. OMG I love it. I’m going to watch it again and again. How much fun was that? Thank you so much for sharing that. I want to start dancing in Chicago by the Bean and it probably wouldn’t take much! Love it. Made me feel better after all the icky stuff:)

When people are dancing and in the moment there is no them or us, only fellow dancers. No matter the race, religion or whatever the people in this film are joined in a common theme, fun. Thanks for that.

I first posted this back in August, and decided it was a good way to start off the new year. We are one. Let’s put aside our differences and dance together. Happy New Year.
